The Opportunity

The Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Planning & Budget (“AVC”), reporting to the Vice Chancellor and Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for the leadership of the UCLA Office of Academic Planning and Budget. Responsibilities include Annual Budget Administration and Financial Planning & Analysis across the university, Institutional Research & Information Management, and providing insight and business plan analysis on Strategic Initiatives. The AVC is responsible for driving the campus multiyear strategic financial planning and annual budget process, including the analysis of resource and institutional planning issues. As a key resources to the Chancellor, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, Vice Chancellors, Vice Provosts, Deans and other UCLA senior leadership, the AVC will lead thorough analysis identifying and modeling key drivers of the university and providing recommendations and business analysis on alternative outcomes to influence the decision-making process and planning efforts. The Office supports the entire UCLA campus, including academic, business and administrative units.

The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in and/or leading a Financial Planning and Analysis organization focused on annual budget and long-term financial planning, and/or a finance/strategy role; will be a strategic executive with sound financial acumen; will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate credibly across diverse stakeholders; and will bring proven experience and success in recruiting, retaining, developing and motivating a team of collaborative seasoned managers and technical professionals. An advanced degree is preferred.
