Position Description

Under the direction of the Assistant Director for Graduate International Admissions, the Graduate International Credential Evaluator(Evaluator) carefully reviews and evaluates international transcripts for institution recognition, document authenticity and transferable credit where applicable. The Evaluator calculates cumulative GPAs for internationally educated applicants. For select programs, the Evaluator also confirms prerequisite courses are fulfilled and/or in progress.

The Evaluator serves as an academic policy resource for incoming graduate students regarding equivalency of international degrees as compared with the US educational system, and is a key contact for academic liaisons throughout the University on academic policy matters related to the evaluation of graduate education completed in countries outside the U.S.

The Evaluator reviews student applications for initial F-1 visas and may utilize the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) to issue initial I-20 forms.

In partnership with Graduate Admissions Counselors and designated Academic Liaisons, the Evaluator responds to inquiries from prospective students, including explaining their completed evaluations, and provides information on University admission and credential evaluation policies. The Evaluator contributes to the overall effort of meeting the University's annual graduate enrollment goals.

Minimum Qualifications

	•	Bachelor's degree. One or more years of experience in an educational environment in the areas of international credential evaluation, academic advising, transfer evaluation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
	•	The ideal candidate will be a resilient and innovative problem solver, have excellent organizational abilities with an acute attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills that enables this person to develop positive relationships with key campus partners and provide personalized attention to prospective students throughout the admissions process.
	•	The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment is essential, as is the ability to exercise professional judgment to make informed decisions based on experience, reason and policy while considering issues of equity, fairness and historical precedent. The Evaluator should be adept at managing and prioritizing multiple tasks. All candidates must show a demonstrated commitment to diversity and the university's mission, vision and values.

Preferred Qualifications:

	•	CRM experience – specifically Slate
	•	Experience with international credential evaluation in an academic setting
	•	Familiarity with a variety of international credential evaluation resources, including AACRAO EDGE
	•	Ability to work inclusively with people with diverse backgrounds and customs
	•	Strong knowledge of FERPA and SEVIS
	•	Knowledge of Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new technology

Compensation at a Glance:

Salary Range: $45,000 – $48,000 DOE

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
