Job Description:

The Compensation Analyst/Senior Compensation Analyst is responsible for managing compensation and data projects, providing analytical services and high level project and system support.  This position will manage and maintain compensation management software including data management, report development and salary survey completion to leverage the system.  This position will provide data summaries and analysis, and ensure data accuracy and integrity.  The position will assist in the development of comprehensive market analysis to determine competitive positioning of the organizations pay programs.

Major Responsibility: Complete salary surveys and maintain compensation management software  − 50 %

Supporting Actions:

  • Participate in salary surveys and other data exchanges to provide market information needed to support compensation recommendations and to help identify market trends. Work with compensation and HR Business Partner to ensure that survey positions are matched appropriately.
  • Maintain the salary survey database (Pay Factors), ensuring the most recent data is reflected in job composites.
  • Manage data clean-up projects including ensuring job profiles and job families are accurate and creating job codes to leverage Pay Factors functionality
  • Assist with developing Pay Factors reports and organize and maintain compensation data. Maintain survey matches in Pay Factors.
  • Support integration and maintenance of PayFactors compensation management software
    • Audit data after scheduled employee and compensation data updates and update matches as needed to ensure accuracy
    • Assess number of positions covered in surveys and recommend purchase of additional surveys to expand coverage when needed
    • Liaise with vendor regarding troubleshooting and implementation of new or improved features and reports as needed
    • Manage data clean-up projects including ensuring job profiles and job families are accurate and creating job codes to leverage Pay Factors functionality
    • Assist with developing Pay Factors reports and maintaining internal survey database

Supporting Actions:

  • Assist the data collection process to support ongoing compensation programs (merit increase program, salary budget planning, executive compensation, annual market/equity review) as well as major compensation initiatives and projects
  • Support the development of compensation metrics, reports and tools to facilitate compensation program decisions. Produce ad hoc analyses with quick turnarounds.
  • Assist in providing compensation data related to pay equity studies and ensuring compensation data integrity.
  • Participate in annual salary administration programs, including salary structure creation
  • Research and analyze competitive compensation practices in the job market and work with Compensation leaders to ensure that our programs and practices are current
  • Prepare and present summary reports of job analysis and compensation analysis information
  • Gather data from market-based compensation surveys; use spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and market trends
  • Perform market reviews, and proposes thoughtful, data-driven solutions to issues through data analysis and external benchmarking
  • Provide support for Workday working with Workday Program to design and develop compensation reports and support compensation Workday functionality
  • Support Workday testing for Compensation Services during biannual systems updates and other testing periods
  • Conduct necessary ad hoc compensation-related analysis

This is a dual graded position posting. The candidate’s qualifications/experience will determine if the position is filled at a grade 9 or grade 10 level.

Education and Experience

  • Grade 9: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, 1 to 2 years of human resources experience with a focus on compensation or data management.
  • Grade 10: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, 3 years of human resources experience with a focus on compensation.
  • Advanced analytical, problem solving, and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience completing salaries surveys and utilizing market data preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a high-volume environment while adhering to deadlines.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, including ability to manipulate large sets of data and provide analytical support. Strong data presentation skills.
  • Experience with Workday or a similar HR cloud-based enterprise resource planning system required.
  • Strong service orientation and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
