Baruch College — Assistant Professor of Graphic Communication

Job Description:
The Fine and Performing Arts Department at Baruch College seeks a promising teacher and innovative design practitioner/scholar for a tenure-track assistant professor position in graphic communication beginning Fall 2023. This is one of several searches the Department is conducting this year.

Applicants must be able to teach graphic communication fundamentals and should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: information design, experiential design, UX/UI design, interface design, generative design, interactive design, 3-D design, extended reality design. The position includes working with Baruch’s makerspace, MakerHub, in the Field Center for Entrepreneurship.

Candidates’ research programs may be practice-based (exhibitions, commissions, etc.) or publication-based (articles, books, etc.). In either case, the research portfolio must demonstrate a record of achievement with clear evidence of a trajectory toward tenure.

NOTES:
All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance to the tri-state area.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. QUALIFICATIONS
Terminal degree (MFAor PhD) or the equivalent in graphic communication or a closely related field is required. All degree requirements must be met by the beginning of the 2023-24 academic year. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, a record that demonstrates scholarly achievement, and the ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Ability to develop makerspace programming preferred.

COMPENSATION
$72,667 – $99,532; commensurate with qualifications and experience.
