Azusa Pacific University (APU) is one of the largest Christian universities on the West Coast, with a current enrollment of 8,100 students and with nearly 1,000 faculty and staff across seven locations. Located 26 miles northeast of Los Angeles, California, APU is a vibrant and diverse community committed to academic excellence evidenced by its Carnegie classification as an R2 Doctoral University.
Azusa Pacific University seeks an exceptional leader to champion and advance the God First mission through undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs grounded in the evangelical Protestant tradition. The Provost is the leader and advocate for APU’s mission, including its academic mission, and represents that mission to the College’s various constituencies. The Provost oversees all hiring, evaluation, and program review within the Division of Academic Affairs. The Provost oversees eight schools and colleges, a seminary, and three libraries and is responsible for their growth, quality, and responsiveness to the APU mission.
Reporting directly to the President, the Provost is the Chief Academic Officer of the University and is an essential member of the President’s Cabinet. The Provost and the Academic Cabinet are the primary liaisons with the Faculty Senate and its committees, with all entities sharing governance processes. The Provost also leads the university in the President’s absence.
