Wichita State University — Assistant Professor or Assistant Educator of Graphic Design

Wichita State University’s School of Art, Design and Creative Industries invites the candidate who is excited about teaching and research to join our thriving Graphic Design Department as either a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor (MFA required) or a full-time, non-tenure-track Assistant Educator (no MFA required). We would be most excited about a candidate who has a continued commitment to professional activity, an understanding of plural design histories, and a passion for excellent teaching; especially with a diverse student body that includes a large population of first-generation students.

As the newest member of this department, candidates are invited to add their area of expertise to complement the current faculty. With a good baseline of visual communication and typographic skills, the most welcome additions are a practice in Interactive UI/UX, Motion Design, Design for Social Change, and/or other areas of the forward-thinking and world-changing aspects of the graphic design industry. We are especially animated by candidates who embody a commitment to ethical and inclusive practices in their own work and who can bring these approaches into the classroom.

Our new colleague will teach graphic design classes in the undergraduate program, develop new courses as needs arise, enrich the campus through service activities (meaningfully engaging with the broader university), and participate in recruitment activities.

Start date: August 2023 or mutually agreed upon start date. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
