The College of Fine Arts and Communication invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track, 9-month Lecturer position in Public Relations in the Department of Mass Communication beginning August 2023. The successful candidate must be committed to the university’s goal of inclusiveness and work effectively with persons of all races, genders, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations and religions.

Earned master’s degree in public relations, mass communication, or related field. Demonstrated success or potential as a classroom teacher. Professional and teaching experience in public relations and strategic communication is highly desirable.

Faculty are assigned an instructional workload of eight courses per academic year (4 courses per semester). Teach two or more undergraduate courses in public relations among the following: PR Writing, Principles of Strategic Public Relations, Media Relations, Corporate Communication Management, or Social Media and Strategic Communication. The ability to teach digital media tools is a plus. Opportunities might exist to teach other courses, including graduate courses, depending on the applicant’s area of specialty and the need of the department. Undergraduate advising is part of teaching responsibilities. Service to the department, college, and university is expected.

The Department:
The department ( offers an undergraduate major in Mass Communication with tracks in advertising, journalism, and strategic public relations. At the graduate level, the department offers a Master of Science in Communication Management. The department annually enrolls over 600 majors served by 21 full-time faculty and over 20 part-time faculty.
