Columbia College invites applications, expressions of interest, and nominations of candidates in its search for the Dean of the Robert W. Plaster School of Business (School of Business). The College seeks a visionary, strategic, and collaborative leader who will play a central role in shaping the success, growth, and future trajectory of the School of Business. Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the new Dean will lead the School of Business across the College’s main campus, the forty-four national locations, and online. 

Founded in 1851, Columbia College is dedicated to improving lives through higher education. As a private, coeducational liberal arts and sciences college, the College takes pride in its small classes, experienced faculty, and quality educational programs. A truly unique institution, Columbia College has a traditional campus and active evening program in Columbia, Missouri, more than 40 additional venues in 15 states and Cuba, and a robust online presence. The College serves more than 18,000 students and is unique in its ability to provide multiple access points to high-quality education. The College offers associate, bachelor’s degrees, and master’s degrees at the main campus, selected venues, and online. 

The Robert W. Plaster School of Business is located on the main campus, in Columbia, Missouri, but serves all students, faculty, and staff across the Business Administration department. Across all Columbia College venues, the School of Business provides focused attention and quality faculty, ensuring small class sizes and a personalized student experience. In addition to the Dean, the School of Business has a team of nine faculty, directors, and visiting instructors leading the business education, degree offerings, and certificate programs. Degree offerings include associate degrees in business administration and real estate management, in addition to 14 bachelor’s degrees including accounting, business administration, innovation and entrepreneurship, finance, international business, and marketing, as well as master’s degrees in business administration. Specialized and targeted certificate programs are offered in digital marketing, human resource management, management, and real estate. The School of Business is a candidate for accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). 

The next Dean of the Robert W. Plaster School of Business will be a visionary and seasoned leader, dedicated to stewarding the growth and innovations in student learning, business education, and the breadth of business administration offerings at Columbia College. The new Dean will provide academic and administrative leadership that enhances and elevates the School of Business across all locations and online learning. The Dean will oversee the financial and operational responsibilities of the School of Business and work in partnership across college leadership, the national locations, and with external stakeholders on program and resource development. 

Columbia College seeks candidates who will have a deep understanding of the current and future trends of business education and successfully assess the breadth of existing programs and champion future curricular development, interdisciplinary collaborations, and opportunities for growth for the School of Business. The next Dean of the School of Business will be an innovative and strategic leader who will advance the overall operations and efficiencies of the School, while developing sound strategies to move the institution forward as a champion of business education across all Columbia College venues, external stakeholders, and the business community nationally. 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment and passion for the mission, vision, and values of Columbia College and possess an understanding of non-traditional students and partnerships with military bases/installations. Experience with the ACBSP accreditation process and working with active-duty military and veteran learners is highly desired in this position. An earned terminal degree in one of the disciplines of the School of Business is required, with a doctorate degree in a business-related field preferred. Progressive leadership experience and earned academic tenure is also highly desired.
