Job Description:

The Research Assistant provides logistical, organizational, and managerial support for a project focusing on the ongoing effects of Covid-19 on immigrant women in New York City led by Associate Professor Katherine A. Mason.

This is a fixed term position with an anticipated end date of 6/14/23, which may be extended based upon available funding.

Job Qualifications and Competencies:


  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.


  • Background in social science research preferred (e.g. sociology, economics, etc.)
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative research preferred.
  • Previous experience with Qualtrics, including contact lists and use of display logic.
  • Must be comfortable with data manipulation and merging files with disparate variables.
  • Knowledge of R is a plus.

  • Experience and competency in use of computer programs, digital resources, and ability to generate reports, graphs, tables, etc. a plus.
  • Written communication and editing skills for preparing correspondence, documents, reports, utilizing correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effectively dealing with a broad range of individuals at various levels within an organization.
  • Strong project-management, organizational and office management skills with ability to set priorities, organize and coordinate office operations, anticipate needs, work under the pressure of deadlines and exercise good judgment, particularly with sensitive or confidential matters.
  • Strong time-management skills, detail-oriented with ability to handle and complete multiple projects concurrently, including ability to react quickly and shift priorities.
  • Strong self-motivation and dependability, with demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
