A Quartet of African Americans in New Administrative Positions in Higher Education

Damon R. Wade is the new vice president for enrollment management and marketing at William Peace University in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was associate vice chancellor for enrollment management at North Carolina Central University in Durham. Earlier he was vice president for enrollment management at New College of Florida in Sarasota.

Dr. Wade holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. He earned a master’s degree in urban affairs from Norfolk State University in Virginia and a master’s degree in public administration and a Ph.D. from Walden University.

Sherrie Johnson was named vice president for external affairs, communications, and advancement at Prince George’s Community College in Largo, Maryland. Most recently, Dr. Johnson was director of communications with the Prince William County government.

Dr. Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned a master’s degree in communications from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and an educational doctorate in organizational leadership from Grand Canyon University.

Donte McFadden is the new director of the Distinguished Visiting Scholars Program in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University at Buffalo of the State University of New York System. He was the senior associate director for undergraduate research and high-impact practices for the Educational Opportunity Program at Marquette University in Milwaukee.

Dr. McFadden holds bachelor’s degrees in film and film studies, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in English, all from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Ahyana King is the new interim director of the Office of Race and Ethnicity Education at Haverford  College in Pennsylvania. She previously worked at Haverford in 2020–2021, directing what was then known as the Women’s Center.

King earned a bachelor’s degree in human development and family science from Messiah University in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Walden University.
