The Department of Environmental Science and Policy at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science is seeking to fill 2 additional tenure-track faculty positions in environmental science and policy – one in interdisciplinary environmental social sciences and the second in data sciences with applications to environmental science and policy and coupled human–natural systems (separate link for each position below). Appointments may be made at level commensurate with experience.

Successful candidates may draw from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to environmental governance and justice, law, data science, geography, planning, public health, anthropology, or the behavioral, decision, and economic sciences. Areas of focus for both positions may include human-environment interactions related to coasts, oceans, and land, with an emphasis on coastal zone management, water management, climate change risks and responses, sustainable development, species conservation, equity and justice, and/or natural resource management.

Applicants must have a J.D. or Ph.D. in Environmental Science or related field by the expected start date of August 2023. Candidates must demonstrate strong interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary research productivity and research partnerships, the potential to secure extramural funding, and commitment to teaching and mentorship at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We seek candidates with a proven record of implementing complex spatial data analysis, statistical learning techniques, machine learning, remote sensing, or other big data tools.
