The Clinical Instructor – Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department in collaboration with Emergency Medicine attending physician. The Clinical Instructor – Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will instruct residents medical students and Health Sciences Center students in Emergency Medicine practices and protocols. The selected incumbent should have excellent communication and clinical skills, as well as the ability to work independently.

Required Qualifications:

Nurse Practitioner: New York State Nurse Practitioner license. MSN degree or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Acute Care, Adult Health, Family Health or Gerontology. Ability to learn and perform procedures such as CPR, Laceration Repair, Central Line Insertion, Lumbar Puncture.

Physician Assistant: Bachelor's degree and graduation from an accredited school for Physician Assistants. NYS PA license and NCCPA certification as PA, ACLS (pending is okay). Six (6) months of recent experience treating patients in an ED Urgent care or Physician's office.

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferred that the candidate have at least 1 year experience as an ED NP, urgent care NP, or ED nurse. Prefer candidate who can work the night shift.
