North Central College invites nominations and applications for its 11th president in the College’s 160-year history. The search was launched in response to President Troy D. Hammond’s retirement in June 2022, after a dedicated decade of service to the College. North Central seeks an inspiring, authentic, and strategic leader who is committed to and passionate about the transformational nature of the private residential, liberal arts educational experience. The next President will be a champion of the College’s distinctive story as well as relish the opportunity to lead and inspire its faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community.

North Central College is located in Naperville, Illinois, less than 30 miles southwest of Chicago. Founded in 1861, North Central has a long history of rigorous and innovative student-centered education, grounded in the liberal arts tradition, with purposeful integration of professional studies and civic engagement. Today, with a student body of over 2,600 and 177 full-time faculty, the College is steadfast in its personalized student education with 70 undergraduate and 13 graduate offerings. Ranked as a top 20 “Best Regional University” and in the top 10 “Most Innovative Schools” in the Midwest (U.S. News & World Report) for 2022, North Central has been a leader of thoughtful changes and strategic academic advances. North Central boasts one of the most dominant NCAA Division III athletics programs in the country, offering 27 intercollegiate men’s and women’s programs and an extraordinary legacy of 40 team national championships, including 10 in the last decade.

As a highlight of its commitment to a diverse and inclusive community, North Central has been nationally recognized for its Cardinal First program, which provides dedicated resources, personal support, innovative strategies, and campus-wide celebrating of it first-generation student body and their educational success.

The next Presidential of North Central will bring to the College strong leadership and management skills, a transparent and genuine communication style, and a demonstrated understanding of and passion for the transformational nature of the private residential, liberal arts educational experience. The President of North Central serves as its executive leader and will have the opportunity to leverage the College’s strong position, advance its mission, and ensure its future success. The President reports to the Board of Trustees, a dedicated and engaged set of leaders, alumni, and community members, who seek an experienced, genuine, and dynamic partner to lead North Central. The North Central College Presidential Search Committee will begin evaluating applications immediately. Although applications will be welcomed until the time that a new President is selected, candidates should submit materials by November 11, 2022, to ensure the fullest consideration. The new President is expected to begin serving on July 1, 2023. Applications should include a letter of candidacy that responds to the agenda for leadership and the desired attributes for the President, and a complete résumé or career vita.
