Luther College invites applications, expressions of interest and nominations of candidates in its search for the Assistant Dean and Director (ADD) of Center for Intercultural Engagement and Support (CIES). Luther College is seeking a strategic, energetic, innovative, and people-centered leader with demonstrated ability to enhance student success efforts of historically underrepresented students, international & excluded identities; and develop campus wide engagement opportunities for deeper understandings of and more effective skills in participating in a diverse, inclusive; and equitable community that creates a sense of belonging for all and aligns with the College’s mission and values.

The Assistant Dean and Director (ADD) of the Center for Intercultural Engagement & Support (CIES) serves as the department head for CIES and reports to the Chief Equity & Inclusion Officer and Assistant to the President for Community Engagement.  The ADD has primary responsibility for the leadership, budgetary management and programmatic thrusts of CIES and supervision of staff. Additionally, the Director serves as a resource for faculty, staff and students and works collaboratively with campus constituents to create and develop appropriate DEI education materials, trainings and efforts to improve campus climate and promote inclusivity for all stakeholders. 

Master’s degree required in any of the following disciplines: Higher Education; Intercultural Communication and Competence; Sociology/Social Psychology/Social Work with emphasis on Social Justice. Also required is at least three years’ experience and progressive responsibility within diversity, equity and inclusion related work in a college or university setting and at least one year’s experience as DSO and/or international advising service/programming.
