Brown University — Senior Research Assistant

Job Description:

This Senior Research Assistant (SRA) will support laboratory research projects on alcohol use, immunity, and behavior at Brown University. Activities involve participant recruitment, screening, tracking, and retention; behavioral and cognitive assessment; datafile management and quality assurance; participant payments; biospecimen processing and storage; drug randomization; and laboratory supply inventory. The SRA is expected to generate and maintain project documentation and assemble materials for IRB modifications and progress reports. The SRA will conduct immunological assays on biological samples (e.g., plasma) in a lab setting and must have strong technical laboratory skills.

Job Qualifications:

  • Required: BA or BS in biology or related field with 2-3 years of experience. Experience may be established through prior employment and/or educational training.
  • Master’s degree in biological or behavioral science is preferred.
  • Required: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and technical laboratory skills.
  • Experience working with biological samples (blood, saliva, urine) is preferred.
  • Coursework in biomedical and/or behavioral sciences is preferred.
  • Experience in database management and basic knowledge of statistical procedures is preferred.
  • Clinical research experience is preferred.
