Three African Americans Who Have Been Appointed University Diversity Officers

Shannon Bradley is the inaugural chief diversity and inclusion officer for Keck Medicine at the University of Southern California. Previously, Bradley served as the assistant vice president/division director of diversity, equity, and inclusion for HCA Healthcare’s Gulf Coast Division in Houston, Texas.

Bradley holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Emporia State University in Kansas. She earned an MBA with a health care administration specialization from Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Perry Martin Jr. is the inaugural dean of diversity, equity, inclusion, and transformation at the University of West Los Angeles in California. He is a professor of business and director of faculty development for the university. 

Martin earned an associate’s degree from Central Texas College and a bachelor’s degree in social psychology from Park University in Missouri. He holds an MBA, a master’s degree in management and leadership, and a master’s degree in human resource development from Webster University in Missouri.

Damon L. Williams, Jr. is the new associate vice president in the Office for Institutional Diversity at the University of Kentucky. Williams was the associate dean of diversity and inclusion and the chief diversity officer of the graduate school at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Xavier University of Louisiana. He holds a master’s degree in marketing from Tulane University in New Orleans and an MBA from Fontbonne University in St. Louis. He is a doctoral student at Louisiana State University studying higher education administration.
