Rutgers New Jersey Medical School invites applications for the position of the Chair of Pediatrics. We are seeking an individual with strong leadership qualities and a record of accomplishment as a clinician and researcher to lead a department with a faculty possessing broad expertise in both clinical and basic sciences. We seek a dynamic individual who can manage and build the clinical enterprise, expand research, maintain the commitment to medical training, and support medical student education.

With 30 full-time and 14 part-time faculty, current divisions in the Department include Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine, Allergy/Immunology, Ambulatory Pediatrics/Primary Care, Child Development, Child Life, Critical Care, Early Intervention, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Academic Pediatrics and Pediatric Education, Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Neonatology, Neurology, Pediatric Cardiology, and Pulmonology, and an Autism Center which provides diagnosis and comprehensive developmental evaluation and treatment of children, conducts population-based autism monitoring and identifies and provides intervention for early autism.

The successful candidate should be a nationally respected individual with experience in the leadership and management of a complex, hospital-based service in an academic teaching and research environment. Outstanding leadership qualities and an excellent understanding of the delivery of Pediatrics Services are required. Previous involvement with multi-disciplinary research and clinical programs is particularly desirable. Experience in leading academic and/or research units, major committees, and programs in faculty development are essential.
