Massachusetts Institute of Technology — Human Resources Business Partner

MIT Open Learning (OL) seeks a human resources business partner to manage all human resources (HR) functions for ~150 staff.

Responsibilities include collaborating with OL leadership to develop an HR strategy and leading its execution; serving as the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) officer, including liaising with other DEI areas across MIT, serving as the first point of contact on DEI matters, and developing and executing the DEI plan; advising/assisting managers in areas of employee relations, helping to resolve workplace issues, and facilitating discussions when needed; providing support for recruiting, hiring, training, and development, including working with hiring managers to source candidates, developing and implementing onboarding processes, and identifying and arranging for training; overseeing OL’s performance management and development processes; understanding and communicating MIT HR policy and devising and managing internal OL HR policies; data analysis and reporting; processing all HR transactions; maintaining HR records; and performing other duties as required. Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least five years’ HR generalist experience
  • Interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Excellent interpersonal, facilitation, coaching, training, mediation, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Sound judgment and discretion with complex and sensitive information and employee relations issues
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work strategically to identify areas for improvement, spot and solve problems, and build consensus
  • Ability to function both collaboratively and independently with minimal oversight
  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple workstreams concurrently, and meet deadlines in a busy environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree and/or SPHR or PHR certification
  • Experience formulating and executing DEI strategy
