Iowa State University — Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, Operations Research and Analytics / Human Factors and Ergonomics

The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering (IMSE) at Iowa State University invites nominations and applications for two new faculty positions in the department: 1) assistant professor with a scholarly focus in operations research and analytics and 2) assistant professor with scholarly focus in any area of human factors and ergonomics. Both positions are expected to begin in August 2023. Exceptional candidates with commensurate experience and proven track record will be considered for tenure and advanced rank of Associate or Full Professor, as well as a named Professorship. The successful applicant will be participating in all aspects of the department’s mission, including developing a strong externally funding research program, teaching and supervising students at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participating in service to the university and profession.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in industrial engineering or a closely aligned field
  • Associate Professor candidates must also meet the university standards for appointment to the rank, including significant experience/accomplishments in the candidate’s area of expertise
  • Full Professor candidates are required to have national distinction, international recognition, and a substantial scholarly record in their area of expertise, in addition to the aforementioned requirements

  • Evidence of ability or potential for teaching excellence
  • Evidence of collaboration in research and education
  • Evidence of commitment to diversity and inclusion
