Job Description:
The purpose of this position is to identify, recruit and interview participants for a research study within the Lifespan, Brown School of Public Health and Cancer Center of Brown University.  Current study is centered on identifying the risk factors for human diseases associated with environmental and occupational exposure, life style factors and biomarkers.  The successful applicant will work closely with the Study Investigators and the studies’ Project Director.  Job-related activities include, but are not limited to: study participant identification, screening, recruitment, interview, and collection and process of bio-and environmental samples; study preparation and coordination of study materials.  To be considered, the applicant must submit a cover letter and resume with their online application.

Job Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, or related field is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Undergraduate coursework in research methods
  • 1+ years experience relevant work experience

Experience

  • Must be able to draw blood.
  • Able and willing to collect and process and store study samples (water, blood, tissue and urine)
  • Experience with computer programs, including Word  for computer-assisted interviews

Job Competencies

  • Strong organizational skills are required, including ability to organize and prioritize one’s own efforts for job related activities.
  • Strong interest in working with people with or without diagnosis of diseases
  • Strong interest in public health, with a focus on environmental exposures and human health
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Flexibility in scheduling – some evenings and weekends may be required
  • Possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 9/1/2023 which may be extended based upon available funding.
