Job Description:

The purpose of the Research Assistant is to provide logistical, organizational, and managerial support for the Community Decides Project and other democracy-related projects led by Professor Jonathan Collins.

This position is for 9 months from the start date and is 100% grant funded with the possibility of renewal.

Major Tasks:

  • Schedule project-related events
  • Facilitate events related to the project(s)
  • Schedule team meetings
  • Co-facilitate research team meetings
  • Provide managerial support for student researchers
  • Manage deliverables for the project
  • Assist with the hiring of any new student researchers

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Background in social science research preferred (e.g. political science, sociology, economics, public policy, psychology, etc.)
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative research preferred.
  • Have interest in working on projects related to the advancement of participatory or deliberative democracy. Such projects include (but are not limited to): participatory budgeting, online deliberative townhalls, issue forums, and citizen juries.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
