Job Description:

The Brown University’s School of Engineering had an exciting opportunity for an IT Support Coordinator.

Major Responsibilities
The IT Support Coordinator provides application, operating system, and technology support to the Engineering community via a combination of on-site assistance, desktop management, and remote viewing tools. Works with administrative and academic departments on resolution of computing issues, and maintains relationships with departmental administrators. Provides service for escalation of Help Request Tickets, Help Request phone calls, and assists with phone calls and walk-ins. Performs general system administration tasks for Engineering computing environments. The incumbent utilizes a variety of computing tools to solve problems.

The IT Support Coordinator is a 40 hour per week position and the incumbent is expected to work outside of normal business hours during peak periods including, but not limited to the beginning of each semester and service launch dates.

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.

Experience working in Higher Education, preferred.

1 year experience providing desktop support; one or more of RHCSA, RHCE, LPIC, ACSP, ACTC, or ACHDS certifications preferred.

Job Competencies
Indicate the essential job competencies. Competencies are required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the job successfully.

Experience supporting Windows, OSX and productivity applications in use at the School of Engineering.

Preferred troubleshooting skills for a host of peripherals (printers, handheld devices, RM devices, card
readers, etc.).

Experience supporting computing users.

Excellent customer service skills; strong commitment to customer service.

Understanding and appreciation for needs of users in an academic environment; tact and sensitivity in
dealing with a diverse user community.

Excellent coordination, collaboration, writing, and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently, self-starter.

Ability to work effectively in a group and as a member of a project team.

Requires a strong commitment to promoting diversity.
