Job Description:

The Financial Services Commerce Specialist supports University-wide commerce and merchant services.

Under the direction of the Director of Financial Services Operations – Systems and Projects, the individual in this position is responsible for posting and reconciliation of commerce related funds and fees, providing general merchant related support, data gathering and analysis of card payment processor transactions and fees and the maintenance and enhancement of e-commerce solutions.

This individual will have a high level understanding of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance and a comprehensive understanding of the University Chart of Accounts.

Major Responsibilities include:

  • Accurate and timely recording of all University card payment revenue and fees. Reconciliation of bank items as well as various merchant clearing accounts.
  • General Merchant Support; Develop and provide data analysis and insight to assist in decision making.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in financial operations, accounting or merchant services.
  • Requires professional knowledge of the theory, principles and procedures of accounting, auditing and financial management.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills to translate data from various sources into user-friendly reports and spreadsheets.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess exceptional analytical, organizational, administrative, time management skills and the ability to work independently as well as be a productive member of a team.
  • Possess initiative and judgement to independently problem solve and prioritize.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
