Brown University — Faculty Administration Coordinator

Job Description:

The Faculty Administration Coordinator serves as a key member of the faculty administration team within the Office of the Dean of the Faculty (DOF). The position plays a critical role in faculty appointment and compensation activities, collects, reviews, and tracks a broad range of faculty data across ~70 academic units. The Coordinator creates reports and spreadsheets and performs ad hoc reviews and analyses, both detailed and summary, including the compilation and distillation of data on contractual commitments and faculty research funds.  The position serves as DOF’s liaison for financial transactional support with the Office of Finance and Special Projects (OFSP) team. The position fosters strong, customer-focused working relationships and develops a broad and deep understanding of the administrative needs of the academic units they support.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Associate’s degree with at least 3 years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Preferably in an academic setting, with knowledge of salary and compensation-related activities.
  • Strong and effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Solid analytical and spreadsheet skills using MS Excel/Google Suites with aptitude for learning new computer applications and systems.
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills with ability to work independently, as well as with a team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills – meticulous attention to detail is critical and required.
  • Accountable; resourceful; proactive with effective follow-up skills; demonstrated initiative, commitment and concern for the workplace.
  • Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment.
