Brown University — Research Assistant

Job Description:

This Research Assistant (RA) will support 1-2 studies of heavy drinking young adults. Activities involve participant recruitment; participant tracking and retention; programming online surveys and managing datafiles; and managing participant payments. The RA is expected to generate and maintain variable directories and other project documentation, conduct library research as needed, and assemble materials for IRB modifications and progress reports. Other activities will include collection, organization, scoring, and management of data and helping with qualitative and quantitative data analysis.

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 8/31/2023 which may be extended based upon available funding.

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Required: BA or BS in psychology or related field with 1-2 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Required: Proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Coursework in research design and experience with human subjects research is preferred
  • Experience in programming online surveys (e.g., Qualtrics software) is preferred
  • Experience managing databases is preferred
  • Coursework in addiction, substance abuse and/or psychopharmacology is preferred
  • Experience with management of ecological momentary assessment data preferred
  • Experience with SPSS software preferred.
  • Flexibility in work schedule is preferable, including possible evening hours.
