Job Description:

Brown University Athletics is currently seeking candidates for the Men’s Ultimate Frisbee Coach position.  Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 34 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-D1).

This position is a 9-month position (August through May) and will serve as the head coach for the club ultimate frisbee program.  The primary function of this position will be to assist in the development, implementation, and coordination of the club ultimate frisbee program.

Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct practices, motivate students and instruct students in game strategies and techniques.
  • Organize schedule for season.
  • Supervise students during practices and competitions.
  • Follow established procedures in the event of a student’s injury.
  • Model good sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials and spectators.
  • Create and manage budget.

Entry into the candidate pool requires the following:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree or combination of education and experience
  • 1-3 years relevant coaching experience, preferred


  • Demonstrated high-level achievement and ability to develop students.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ultimate frisbee.
  • Exemplary ethical conduct, integrity and credibility within the sport
  • Commitment to the student and the ability to coach and motivate student-athletes.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication and computer skills needed.
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to multitask and work both individually and as a member team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and relate well to students
  • CPR/AED & First Aid Certification; Certification must be obtained within three (3) months of employment.
  • Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Basic proficiency in excel, word, internet & email capabilities.

All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the appropriate parties.  Employees in coaching positions are required to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test, maintain current AED/CPR & First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division), and attend all required divisional and/or NCAA training/education programs.
