Job Description:

Brown University Athletics is currently seeking candidates for the Manager of Digital Strategy position.  Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 34 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-D1).

The Manager of Digital Strategy is responsible for managing the storytelling, creation, and distribution of content across all Brown Athletics’ social media channels.  The position will develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy for all 34 varsity programs which includes identifying the programs voice and messaging goals.

Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute the comprehensive messaging and content strategy for all 34 varsity programs and main social media accounts and platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and
  • Collaborate and work in conjunction with Communications, Marketing, Recruiting, Creative and Production departments to ideate, execute, and publish creative social media content for main account and sport(s) accounts.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of key social media campaigns to generate exposure and revenue.
  • Generate and distribute content to student-athletes, coaches and administrators using sharing platforms, including future partnerships with mass content sharing programs.  Develop and monitor analytics reports to measure the effectiveness of social media strategies.
  • Supervise students and interns assigned to create digital content.

Entry into the candidate pool requires the following:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public relations, marketing or a related field, or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Three (3) years of working in sports-related social and/or digital media with a proven record of progressive approach to social and digital media.


  • Strong knowledge of creative storytelling experience via social media.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects finalization
  • Demonstrated skill in social media content generation, skill in interpersonal communication, collaboration and prioritization of work assignments.
  • Experience in working with deadlines and turning around high-quality projects from point of inception to finalization of production on a day-to-day basis.
  • Possess a willingness and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community.

All division employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the division are to be reported to the appropriate parties.  Employees in coaching positions are required to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test, maintain current AED/CPR & First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division), and attend all required divisional and/or NCAA training/education programs.
