Job Description:

Advance-CTR was established in 2016 through receipt of an IDeA-CTR Award from the National Institutes of General Medical Sciences. The Advance-CTR mission is to support clinical and translational researchers in Rhode Island through funding, research services, and professional development opportunities in order to fuel discoveries that address the health priorities of RI’s diverse communities.

This position’s primary responsibility will be to develop and implement communication initiatives for Advance Clinical and Translational Research, Advance-CTR. The Communications Manager plays a key role as a member of a centralized Administrative Core that plans and executes activities that serve six partnering entities across the state of Rhode Island. The incumbent will work closely with the Principal Investigator/Project Coordinator and Administrative Director to continue to enhance the program’s role within the RI investigator community as a hub for clinical and translational research resources, and grow the communication strategy in parallel with the program as it evolves in the next five years of funding. The incumbent will lead the program’s communication strategy, manage digital platforms, write original digital and marketing content, and develop presentations and reports to increase participation in program offerings, and leverage strategies to demonstrate the program’s impact to stakeholder audiences (investigators, partners, community members, etc.).

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 07/31/2026 which may be extended based upon available funding

Education and Experience

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of experience in communications or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills – excellent command of English language and grammar necessary.
  • Required: Demonstrated experience and proficiency planning, developing, and maintaining websites.
  • Required: Experience with content management systems, email marketing clients, and social media (Drupel and MailChimp preferred).
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with Google Drive, Google Forms, and Google Sites preferred.

  • Experience in communications or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with Google Suite platform
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop relationships with University and outside stakeholders and effectively and implement collaborative initiatives.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a deadline driven environment required.
  • Demonstrated ability and flexibility to prioritize multiple directives and manage complex job responsibilities.
  • Excellent organizational and computer skills.
  • Possesses a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
