Pamela Richardson Wilks Is the New Provost at Coppin State University in Baltimore

Pamela Richardson Wilks was appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at Coppin State University in Baltimore. She began her new job on July 18.

Dr. Wilks joins Coppin State University from Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida, where she most recently served as associate provost for academic operations, programs, and institutional planning, research, and effectiveness. Prior to joining the staff at Edward Waters University in 2019, Dr. Wilks was an administrator and associate professor of English at Shaw Univerity in Raleigh, North Carolina. Earlier, she taught at North Carolina A&T State University, Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina, and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

“I am excited to be appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at Coppin State University. As a core educational philosophy throughout my career, I have diligently worked to nurture the potential of not only students, but also faculty and staff, as building individuals builds better institutions,” said Dr. Wilks.

Dr. Wilks holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from North Carolina A&T State University. She earned a Ph.D. in English from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
