Position Description

Information Technology Services (ITS) provides high touch, high quality customer service to our community of faculty, staff, and students. We are looking for a results-oriented Classroom Services Technician II to bring strong skills and experience to our diverse team. The Classroom Services Technician II will work as part of a team consisting of multi-level technicians and reports directly to the Service Desk Manager.

The individual in this position will provide technical support to faculty, staff, students, and event operators using computer systems, A/V and other media equipment. They will analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve support issues related to the A/V and computer systems across campus.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service to faculty, staff, students, and event operators in response to issues reported for application software and A/V hardware.
• Maintain compliance with security and safety standards of all equipment.
• Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve technical problems in instrumented classrooms, conference rooms and computer labs.
• Provide live A/V support for both low- and high-level events.
• Manage project-based installations and service-based repair calls.
• Provide support when capable; redirect and escalate when needed.
• Oversee and participate in onsite installation, configuration, customer service and troubleshooting of A/V equipment, computers, software, and related peripherals.
• Testing and replacing cabling and components, advising faculty on computer configurations, and developing on-the spot solutions to unique faculty needs.
• Provide A/V design consultations to university students, faculty, and staff.
• Collaborate with ITS team members to provide solutions.
• Monitor incoming service channels and ticketing system and respond to customer requests in a timely manner.
• Accurately record customer issues into the tracking system.
• Maintains and updates support documentation to assist in information sharing within the team.
• Take ownership of customer issues from first contact, and is accountable for the solutions and customer experience delivered until the issue is resolved
• Provide the necessary training and act as an escalation point for Classroom Service Tier 1 technicians.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Technical knowledge of A/V related hardware (Extron, Dante, etc.).
• Demonstrated customer service orientation and have the ability to organize, analyze, prioritize, and problem-solve within a fast-paced environment.

• The incumbent must be a self-starter with attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to adhere to project specifications and timelines.
• Understanding of industry standards for A/V technology.
• Demonstrated ability to produce effective, professional, and accurate written correspondence.
• Personal accountability for project timelines and milestones.
• Ability to work successfully individually and in a team-oriented environment.
• Commitment to service.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment in complex situations.
• All positions at Seattle University require a criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• A/V Industry & Manufacturer Certifications (CTS, Extron, Dante, etc.).
• Multiple years professional A/V support experience.
• Working knowledge of A/V over IP.
• Networking knowledge a bonus.
