Job Summary:
Manage a wide range of duties related to creating training and development opportunities for the 3500+ managers at Harvard and oversee a suite of leadership development programs for the University’s top talent. Responsibilities may include curriculum design and development, training delivery, program evaluation, and project and program management.

Position Description:

  • Manage multiple programs in the Harvard Leadership Development Program suite; nomination review, communication and outreach, instructor selection and management, instructional design, session facilitation, evaluation, best practice research, continuous improvement, directional alignment of curricula with department and University initiatives.
  • Reimagine development for Harvard managers; design, develop, deliver, and oversee comprehensive open-enrollment management development curriculum, creating a full spectrum of offerings to support managers success today and in the future.
  • Partner with Center for Workplace Development colleagues focusing on dynamic work strategies (hybrid and flex) to provide managers with the skills and tools to be successful in an evolving work environment.
  • Convene communities of learning for managers and leaders.
  • Equip managers with the skills needed to foster an inclusive environment; participate in the design and delivery of the EDIB Academy for Managers; integrate diversity, inclusion, belonging, and equity messaging and content into existing management and leadership classes.
  • Conduct needs assessment, design and analyze surveys, and measure effectiveness of programs and classes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with program participants at all levels.
  • Partner with Center for Workplace Development, human resources professionals throughout the organization, and other internal colleagues for program development and strategic alignment of programs and services.
  • Work on training-related projects including but not limited to researching and analyzing workforce trends and best practices, developing and delivering classes in other CWD programs, and writing proposals and reports.
  • Represent the Center for Workplace Development and Harvard Human Resources on department-wide/university-wide initiatives.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s degree in training and development (or related area) preferred along with a minimum of seven years in training and development, and recent experience managing programs of similar size and scope.
  • Coaching certification preferred.
  • Experience with leadership development; executing multi-day programs, developing and leading sessions for high-potential employees; building and maintaining cohort cohesion; facilitating 360° assessment feedback.
  • Demonstrated experience with instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and designing and delivering learning solutions.
  • Strong presentation skills and demonstrated excellence with project and program management.
  • Experience creating in-person, virtual, hybrid, and blended learning solutions.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, and the ability to effectively organize and display data.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills, both written and oral, with the ability to clearly and concisely share information and ideas with a range of audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to develop and maintain strong professional relationships across the organization and to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • A flexible “can do” attitude and approach to the work.
  • Resourceful and able to work independently.

Working Conditions:
This position will be based in Cambridge, MA. All remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CA, CT, MA, MD, ME, NH, NY, RI, and VT). Human Resources Consulting is currently developing hybrid workplace models which actively support some remote work (within a state in which Harvard is registered to do business) where business and team needs allow. Furthermore, individual flexible and remote work options for this role will be discussed during the interview process.
