Miami University — Associate Director, Diversity Initiatives (CCES)

The Center for Career Exploration and Success (CCES) in the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Success (EMSS) at Miami University seeks an Associate Director of Diversity Initiatives to strategically plan, execute and evaluate innovative, inclusive excellence programs for Miami’s Career Community.

This position is a part of the growing career Diversity Initiatives team, dedicated to the advancement and development of students at Miami University. The position will assist in the implementation of proactive diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives that will support the objectives of the Center for Career Exploration and Success. The individual will conduct regular assessment of the Center’s programming, resources, and outcomes and will recommend actions to close any gaps in equity or access for students based on race, nationality, gender, disability or first generation status and other identities. The Associate Director will serve as a liaison to the other departments, individuals and student groups at Miami University with a focus on promoting diversity, equity and inclusion. They will create and deploy programming that educates the Miami University community about equity and inclusion topics in the context of the workplace.

The salary range for the position is $55,000 – $65,000.

The role consistently promotes the value of a liberal arts education to our various constituents including students, employers, and parents. As a member of the CCES Extended Leadership Team and informs strategy for CCES.

Responsibilities:
Develop structures, mentoring opportunities, and programmatic ways to support students’ career goals and for students of designated historically underrepresented backgrounds. Support departmental efforts to work with career community stakeholders to develop academic and co-curricular pathways for student access into various careers.

Collaborates with colleagues in Academic Affairs, Student Life, the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Success and other relevant offices on campus to co-create programming focused on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusions, specifically related to the world of work.

Hire, train and supervise Sr. Assistant Director of Diversity Initiatives.

Support and create inclusive excellence training for CCES staff in collaboration with the CCES Equity and Access Team. Works in collaboration with Equity and Access Team to ensure our overall suite of CCES programming, employment opportunities, messaging and other resources are inclusive and serve all students based on institutional, divisional, and departmental priorities.

Act as a liaison to those student groups with a focus on underrepresented populations.

Leverage institutional data to drive decision making about services offered to identified populations of students and conduct relevant assessments to understand if services and programs are meeting student needs. Ensure that marketing efforts for programs are carried out through collaborations with CCES staff.

Assist in the coordination of office-wide special events, programs, workshops, and career fairs, and other events as needed. Participate in DEI training and actively enhance inclusive excellence practices throughout CCES. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years of experience.
This position is available to persons who are currently located and authorized to work in the United States on a full-time and indefinite basis. (Persons authorized to work on such a basis include US citizens, lawful permanent residents (“green card” holders), asylees, refugees, and temporary residents under IRCA
This position is not eligible for H1-B Visa or OPT support. It is not eligible for PERM sponsorship.

Desired Qualifications:
Six years of experience and a Master’s degree with previous career services experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Strong teamwork, supervisory and communication skills. Ability to promote the value of a liberal arts education and partner with faculty, staff. students and employers Ability to use data to inform decision-making.

Proven ability and commitment to work with diverse populations (e.g. students of color,
international, LGBTQ+, first generation, low-SES and more) and to build partnerships
with University community and outside partners

Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
