University of North Texas Health Science Center — Assistant Professor, Epidemiology

The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology is one of two departments in the UNTHSC School of Public Health. The Department strives to become a model for educational excellence, innovative and collaborative research, and high-impact public health practice that positively affects health issues regionally, nationally, and globally. Our goal is to provide a collegial interdisciplinary learning environment that produces strong researchers and public health practitioners who use biostatistics, epidemiology, and environmental health theories, principles, and methods to significantly improve health at the population level.

The Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology in the School of Public Health at the University of North Texas in Fort Worth is seeking an outstanding faculty colleague at Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank in the field of Epidemiology. This is an open rank position and can be tenure-track or non-tenure track depending on funding history and qualifications. The successful applicant seeking tenure or tenure accruing will be expected to maintain a strong collaborative, innovative, extramurally funded program of research. The successful applicant for non-tenure track will have excellent teaching qualifications and maintain high teaching and service responsibilities for the Department and School. All areas within Epidemiology are welcome to apply, although priority may be given to those who align with the MPH Maternal and Child Health concentration. Other research priority areas include, but are not limited to, Aging, Chronic Diseases, Infectious Diseases, Epigenetics. Duties include teaching and mentoring of students, research responsibilities, and service to the SPH aligned with rank and tenure status. This is a full-time, 12-month position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in public health with a focus in epidemiology, or a closely related field
  • Enthusiasm and experience for teaching graduate level courses in epidemiology
  • Commitment to the education and advancement of students from under-represented minority and/or historically marginalized communities
  • Experience with inter-professional/interdisciplinary education or practice
