Purchase College SUNY — Painting and Drawing Instructional Support Associate

The School of Art+Design at Purchase College, SUNY seeks candidates for the position of Painting and Drawing Instructional Support Associate.

The successful candidate will be a flexible, inquisitive and reliable individual fluent in a broad range of traditional and contemporary painting and drawing processes and techniques. This instructional support position will assist in managing multiple facilities in support of departmental programs.

The Instructional Support Staff works to assure the safety and accessibility of space, equipment and materials for the department, and oversees the maintenance of the digital archives required for the department. Under their charge is the management our Painting and Drawing facility, and they partner with faculty to support the curriculum, help promote the department through social media, advise on best practices and research new advances. They support learning by providing safe and organized communal studios where students make their work, and manage systems to sustain those efforts.

The PAD Instructional Support Associate will be a participatory member in the Painting and Drawing Department. Working with a team of instructional staff supporting academic programs in the School of Art+Design, this staff member will also interface with other areas of study within the School that rely on the facilities, processes, and equipment supported by this position. This position regularly oversees and manages a diverse community of undergraduate and graduate students.

This is an in-person position located in Purchase, NY, commencing with the Summer 2022 semester. We offer union contract-negotiated pay increases and potential for permanency. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Highly proficient in painting practices
  • Carpentry and repair skills
  • BFA or equivalent professional experience in a related field
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite, experience with social media platforms
  • Exhibition installation experience 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a professional arts school setting in higher education
  • Familiarity with health and safety compliance regulations
  • Supervisory experience
  • Driver’s License is an asset
