Job Summary
Columbus State University has an opening for the Director of Financial Aid. The Director of Financial Aid reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and is a key member of the Enrollment Management (EM) team, which seeks to formulate and meet the strategic enrollment goals of the University.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Administering federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs
  • Managing and supervising all departmental operations for automated and manual financial awarding systems, data management, records and reporting requirements
  • Developing policies and procedures of the Office of Financial Aid for compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Directing and assessing the performance of professional financial aid staff
  • Establishes financial aid award guidelines based on federal, state, institutional, and sponsor criteria
  • Exercises control over fund expenditures, reconciliation of accounts and completion of fiscal year reports
  • Maximizes the use of technology to provide an efficient, accurate and timely awarding and disbursement process for aid funds
  • Be an EM leader who places recruitment, retention and academic success of the student body at the forefront by providing excellent service to students, parents and other financial aid office constituents
  • Increase the awareness of the financial aid process and available programs

Required Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and minimum of 7 years of experience leading and supervising financial aid activities and personnel at the level of assistant director or above at a regionally accredited institution of higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 3 of the 7 years of financial aid leadership experience should be at the level of associate director or above. The successful candidate must also have extensive knowledge of financial aid regulations and best practices; a strong commitment to and track record of successful regulatory compliance; excellent written and verbal communication skills; impeccable references from direct supervisors; and a strong commitment to professional development, customer satisfaction, identifying best practices, and applying process improvements. The candidate must also have a track record of building positive relationships critical to enrollment success with constituencies within and outside the institution; a record of embracing and leading change and improvements necessary to adapt to and prosper in a rapidly changing, cost conscious, highly accountable environment; and extensive experience applying existing and emerging technological applications and innovative approaches to financial aid operations.

Proposed Salary
The annualized salary range for this position is $78,932 – $97,000 and includes full benefits.
