Bill Pink Chosen as the Next President of Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan

Bill Pink was named as the sole finalist to become the nineteenth president of Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. He will be officially named president at the board of trustees meeting on May 6 and will take office on July 1 upon the retirement of current president David L. Eisler.

Ferris State University enrolls nearly 10,000 undergraduate students and more than 1,200 graduate students according to the most recent data available from the U.S. Department of Education. African Americans make up 9 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Dr. Pink has been serving as president of Grand Rapids Community College in Michigan since May 2017. Earlier, he was vice president and dean at the college.

“I am honored to be selected by the Ferris State University board. I have been familiar with the good work of FSU for years, as the partnership we have on our GRCC campus has provided a great pathway from associate’s to bachelor’s degrees for many years,” Dr. Pink said. “I will not attempt to fill the shoes of Dr. Eisler and the incredible work he has done for the university, the region, and our state. Instead, I’ll wear my own shoes in continuing to move Ferris forward. I am excited about the opportunity.”

President Pink earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education and professional education from Oklahoma Christian University. He holds a master’s degree in physical education and secondary education from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Ph.D. in instructional leadership and academic curriculum from the University of Oklahoma.
