Alcorn State University Teams Up With the U.S. Agency for International Development

Alcorn State University, the historically Black educational institution in Mississippi has entered into a partnership with the United States Agency for International Development. USAID and Alcorn State will partner in undertaking critical research on sustainable agriculture, climate change, and science and technology.

The partnership will also contribute to USAID’s efforts to build a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce by creating opportunities and pathways for Alcorn State students to get involved with the Agency’s work and pursue careers in international development. The agreement will harness Alcorn’s expertise and cutting-edge research capabilities in sustainable watershed systems, agricultural research, and climate change analytics to promote a shared pursuit of more inclusive and sustainable social and economic development.

Specifically, USAID aims to bring Alcorn State University, some Caribbean universities, and regional entities together to create linkages and the sharing of information and knowledge.

Under its Minority Serving Institution Partnerships Initiative, USAID has also signed agreements with historically Black Delaware State University and Tuskegee University.
