Wagner College — Visiting Assistant Professor, Sports Administration

The Department of Government and Politics at Wagner College invites applications for a full-time visiting faculty appointment in Sports Administration, beginning Fall 2022. Pending budgetary approval, it is anticipated there will be a search for a tenure-track position and the person in this visiting line will be encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate will hold a doctorate in Sports Management/Administration or a doctorate or other terminal degree in related field and be passionate about teaching and research.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach a wide variety of sport management/administration and related courses (e.g., sports marketing, sports law, e-sports, etc.), design curriculum, assist with the establishment of internship opportunities for undergraduate students, provide strong academic advisement, and supervise internships. In addition to a successful teaching record at the undergraduate levels, we seek candidates with an original research agenda that complements and enhances their teaching.

Essential Functions:

  • Teach 3 courses per semester (Fall and Spring)
  • Collaborate in developing curriculum and establishing new course offerings
  • Advise and mentor students pursuing the undergraduate degree in sports administration
  • Participate in departmental functions and college-wide services
  • Pursue scholarly activities
  • Teach in the College’s First Year Program when possible

Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in Sports Management/Administration or doctorate or terminal degree in a related field. ABD considered.
  • Potential for excellence in teaching at the college level
  • Evidence of research activity and scholarship
  • Commitment and sensitivity to issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility
