Job Description:
The Accounting Department in the School of Business seeks a full-time Lecturer in Taxation for the delivery of graduate courses in Taxation. Must be available to teach courses in the late afternoon and evening.  The required courses include Principles of Tax Research, Estate and Gift Taxation, Taxation of Partnerships, Seminar in Tax and Financial Planning, as well as other advanced Taxation courses as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a terminal degree in Law (either JD or LLM) and at least 5 years of relevant experience in the professional practice of Taxation.  The candidate must also have at least 5 years of successful experience in teaching Taxation at the university level.

The successful candidate will also serve as the Director of the MS in Taxation Program offered by the Department of Accounting and Law in the School of Business.  The Director of the Program is responsible for periodic program evaluation and staffing of all MS Taxation courses.

The successful candidate should also either have or be capable of developing connections with the legal and CPA professional community in the local area and beyond.  These connections will be necessary, both to identify the necessary supporting instructors for the program, but also to facilitate the placement of MS Taxation Program graduates.  The candidate should be self-motivated and have the organizational skills to direct the program effectively, and the networking skills to liaise with the necessary professionals and recruiters.

Candidates must be able to work with a culturally diverse student population.

Requirements:

  • Law Degree, either JD or LLM, from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization required
  • A Master’s or Undergraduate Accounting degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization is preferred
  • A minimum of five years of relevant professional practice experience in Taxation
  • A minimum of five years of successful University or college experience in taxation instruction
  • Candidates must address their ability to teach courses in the late afternoon and evening in their application materials
  • Candidates must address their ability to develop connections with the legal and CPA professional community in the local area and beyond to ensure adequate program staffing and to promote student placement
  • Candidates must address their ability to provide organized program administration
  • Candidates must address their ability to work with a culturally diverse student population

Professional Rank and Salary Range: Lecturer, 10-month
