COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Salary Range: $73,691 -$102,455 (2021/22 Faculty Salary Schedule); teaching experience, other related professional experience, and academic degrees determine salary placement on a schedule that is competitive with other California Community Colleges. EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) is seeking an Electronic Resources librarian to join our supportive, collaborative, and results-driven electronic and technical services team. This position offers the successful candidate considerable creative, innovative, and challenging opportunities to lead and advance library integrations across multiple platforms, while contributing to an inclusive and welcoming digital library environment.
This is a full-time, tenure-track/continuing contract position in the Library & Information Resources Department at Santa Rosa Junior College, beginning Fall Semester, August 2022. Appointments are contingent upon funding and Board approval.

Essential Functions
Job Duties:

  1. Lead digital integrations and solutions that support and extend the reach of library systems and applications, including, but not limited to, Alma Apps and APIs, LTIs, SSO applications, EZproxy, SIS integrations and more
  2. Apply creative digital solutions, including the use of programming and scripting languages, to enhance the access and delivery of digital resources and services
  3. Extend and support technical frameworks for deep integrations of library resources and systems with student-facing learning and web platforms such as Drupal, Canvas and Springshare
  4. As part of a team, provide leadership on diversity, equity and inclusion as they relate to library technologies and digital access
  5. Provide leadership for identifying, assessing and onboarding innovative technologies in a team environment and serve as primary interface with campus Information Technology (IT) department on library initiatives.
  6. As part of a team, analyze, troubleshoot, document, and resolve digital access problems
  7. Provide leadership on processes related to security and privacy of library-based electronic resources, and services
  8. As part of a team, maximize Alma and Primo configurations to the goal of an inclusive and integrated student experience
  9. Serve as liaison for library media collection, including management of all aspects of streaming media, such as emerging solutions, accessibility, communication with teaching faculty and relevant departments, student support, subscription management, licensing, copyright, technical setup and support, with a commitment to a curating a diverse and inclusive collection.
  10. Collect and curate e-resource usage statistics in support of equitable access to resources
  11. Participate in department and district service as required and relevant.

SRJC offers courses at two campuses, located in Santa Rosa and Petaluma, as well as multiple satellite locations within the district, including online. While this assignment is for the Santa Rosa campus, please note the district reserves the right of assignment to any location, and that assignments could involve any combination of day or evening classes with weekly office hours being mandatory. Instructors assume responsibility for maintaining currency in the field, for updating existing courses and developing new curricula (including courses that serve community needs, such as short, non-credit, or online courses), assisting in the assessment of student learning outcomes, participating in department activities and other college service such as committee work, managing laboratories, and participating in community outreach on behalf of the college. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONThe Library and Information Resources Department at Santa Rosa Junior College provides a diverse array of instructional support services district­wide. There are two library facilities: Doyle Library at the Santa Rosa campus and Mahoney Library at the Petaluma campus. Instructional collections include over 380,000 books and e­books, over 40 online databases and a discovery search interface. The library instructional program teaches a one-unit course, both online and face-to-face, that emphasizes instruction in the areas of information literacy. There are over 900 students enrolled per semester, and faculty librarians teach all classes. Librarians perform workshops that instruct students in the use of individual databases or special citation tool software, and they collaborate with instructional faculty to create course integrated instruction sessions for students. In addition, both libraries maintain research services that are staffed by faculty librarians. These services include day, evening, weekend, and extended hour shifts.

Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED:
Master's degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science; OR the equivalent; OR a fully satisfied (Life) California Community College Credential in Library Science.

PREFERRED:

  • Detailed understanding of digital library and electronic resources landscape, including the creative application of integrations and web-based solutions for improving access to library resources
  • Detailed understanding of the lifecycle of electronic resources, including acquisition processes. technical setup, access, troubleshooting, and integration with library systems and platforms
  • Ability to apply current and emerging technologies to enhance the access and delivery of electronic resources and services
  • Ability to implement and use web-based integrations, APIs, and apps to enhance the delivery of digital library services and resources
  • Knowledge of or demonstrated ability to learn front-end and/or back-end languages and frameworks, such as HTML, CSS, PHP, Python, JavaScript, jQuery, AngularJS, in service of library integrations
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and problem-solve in challenging technological environments, including planning, coordinating, and finishing significant projects with multiple levels of feedback and deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience with the current streaming media landscape and workflows and knowledge of trends in streaming media
  • Demonstrated participation in diversity, equity and inclusion efforts as they relate to library technologies, digital access, or campus initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience with Ex Libris Alma and Primo or another library systems platform
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with classified staff and across multiple departments.
