Drake University — Visiting Assistant Professor of History

The Department of History at Drake University invites applications for a visiting assistant professor in US History starting August 2022. This is a one-year position. The successful applicant will teach a 3/4 load. Preference will be given to applicants who are prepared to teach the history of race in the United States at the introductory and advanced undergraduate levels; specializations might include African American, Latinx, or Afro-Latinx history. Ph.D. preferred, however candidates who have achieved ABD status will also be considered. Selection will depend on the receipt of recommendation confirming the candidate’s scholarly achievements and teaching abilities and/or on the candidate’s satisfactory passing a teaching demonstration if selected for an on-campus interview. Salary competitive with peer schools and dependent on qualifications and experience.
