Cleveland State University — Visiting Assistant Professor in Communication Studies

Cleveland State University invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor in Communication Studies. The appointment will begin on August 22, 2022.

The responsibilities of the appointee will include teaching communication courses in at least three of the following content areas: Family, gender, conflict, mediation, groups, interracial, and nonverbal communication. The appointee will teach four courses per semester and may be assigned to teach in-person and online. The position is for one year, renewable annually for up to two additional years, for a total of three years.

ABD in Communication or related field by July 1, 2022 is required to be hired at the rank of Visiting Instructor. A Ph.D. in Communication or related field is required on or before July 1, 2022 to be hired at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor.

Minimum qualifications are an ABD in Communication or a related field by July 1, 2022, with a demonstrated social science/behavioral science background; and
Expertise in undergraduate teaching in at least three of the specified content areas.

Preferred qualifications are a Ph.D. in Communication or a related field by July 1, 2022;
Prior teaching experience in at least three of the specified content areas; and
Ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community. The successful candidate will contribute to CSU’s commitment to diversity as a mission as an urban serving university.
