Cleveland State University — Clinical Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor, School of Nursing

The School of Nursing at Cleveland State University invites highly motivated applicants for a full-time tenure track faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Clinical Assistant Professor. Duties: Teaching assignments are primarily in the Doctor of Nursing program and may include undergraduate and graduate-level courses. On-campus teaching is expected. Additional responsibilities include advising students, curriculum development, program assessment, and university service. Assistant Professor Rank also requires scholarship/research activities. Faculty enjoy the opportunity to engage student learning, a healthy work environment in the life of the School of Nursing, a unique urban research University, and a vibrant community. This is a tenure-track appointment beginning August 22, 2022.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with at least 2 years of current clinical nurse practitioner practice;
  • A Doctorate in Nursing (DNP or Ph.D.). Ph.D. must be earned by August 1, 2022. Candidates who are “all but dissertation” (ABD) are eligible for hire at the rank of instructor until the Ph.D. degree is awarded. DNP degrees must be awarded within one year of hire; and
  • Eligibility for Ohio Nursing license as a registered nurse with a record of clinical practice excellence. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree by July 1st, 2022 to be hired at the rank of Assistant Professor (ABD will be hired at the rank of Instructor) in Information Systems, or related field, from AACSB or equivalent, accredited college;
  • Teaching philosophy that promotes student engagement;
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching, and effective communication skills;
  • Recent scholarly publications;
  • Relevant industry experience; and
  • Ability to contribute to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community through teaching.

Department
The Department currently has 12 full-time faculty members and offers coursework at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels.

College
The Monte Ahuja College of Business has over 70 full-time faculty members, with an enrollment of over 3,300 students. Its programs are accredited at both the graduate and undergraduate levels by the AACSB. Degrees offered by the College include the DBA, MBA, MLRHR, Master of Accountancy, MCIS-IS, BBA, and a joint MBA-JD.

University
Cleveland State University enrolls over 17,000 students. It is located within walking distance of the downtown business and entertainment centers and has strong ties with the business and public sectors in Northeast Ohio.

Salary
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications. Hire is contingent upon the maintenance of existing levels of funding from the State of Ohio. Offer of employment is contingent on satisfactory completion of the University’s verification of credentials (including evidence of a Ph.D.) and other information required by law and/or and/or University policies or practices, including but not limited to a criminal background check.
