Chatham University — Assistant or Associate Professor of Economics

Chatham University is seeking applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Economics/Professor of Practice of Economics for our IACBE accredited Business and Entrepreneurship Department to begin August 2022. 

The Department’s emphasis is to infuse business sustainability principles, practices, and case studies throughout its curriculum.

The primary responsibilities of the position include:

  • Teaching some combination of economics courses at the undergraduate level and in our MBA programs, which also include dual degrees in MBA/Sustainability, and MBA/Food Studies, in areas such as: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Managerial Economics, Environmental Economics, Global Financial Systems and Economic Development. 
  • Advising students.
  • Providing service to the department, University, and academic discipline.
  • Enhancing Chatham’s connections throughout the local and regional business community.


  • Qualified candidates will possess a Ph.D. in Economics with a focus in the areas of Environmental or Industrial Organization particularly welcomed. Candidates with anticipated Ph.D. completion by August 2022 will be considered.
  • Teaching excellence as indicated by strong teaching evaluations.
  • Evidence and potential for high impact research as demonstrated by a track record of published work in peer-reviewed journals as well as a pipeline of work in progress.
  • Ability to teach business-oriented courses in a collaborative/interdisciplinary environment.

The ability to engage in collaborative relationships within the Pittsburgh region with businesses, governmental bodies, and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) is also a key objective of the position.
