Coastal Carolina University — IT Technician

Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: IT Technician in the Office of Information Technology Services. Under the supervision of the ITS Field/System Services Manager in Client Support Services, the IT Technician provides effective daily technical support to university end-users. 

Duties include, but are not limited to: troubleshoot and assist with software and hardware issues related to end-user applications, enterprise solutions, network connections, printer configurations, etc., identify and provide solutions to software and hardware technical problems; document services performed and solutions in the Service Center Ticket system; assist with Tier one and two support for all of the Client Support Services areas; install new software/equipment; train users to operate existing technology equipment, software, or enterprise solution; assist with cross- trainingITScolleagues; assist all of theITSClient Support Services areas; provide critical assistance to University constituents as identified by Client Support Services; assist with faculty, staff, and classroom refresh imaging and completion of the technology deployment process; write necessary procedure documents to assist faculty, staff and support personnel on applications and devices used; assist the Field/System Services Manager, Client Support Services Manager, Associate Director and Director of Client Support Services by contributing to the improvement of operational procedures, processes, and standards as well as change management processes in alignment and collaboration withITSgoals and objectives to advance the University mission; ensure and maintain information security and confidentiality; and perform other duties as assigned. 

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and experience in office automation systems, data communications system design, installation, operation, repair, higher education technology, or processing of information in a data processing environment or related systems is required. An associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree in a related field may be substituted for the required work experience. A valid driver’s license is required. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or related field and two (2) years of experience in the Information Technology and technical support fields is preferred.

IT Technician II (AM71/61122806/FTE-S00576P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 05. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. Flexible work hours required to include night and weekend hours. Some travel may be required. Information security and confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
