Coastal Carolina University — Director of Auxiliary Finances & Lean Officer

Coastal Carolina University seeks applicants for the position of Director of Auxiliary Finances & Lean Officer (Accounting/Fiscal Manager I) in Auxiliary Enterprises. The Director of Auxiliary Finances & Lean Officer will be responsible for the budget process, accounting, analysis, and cost and revenue projection for the self-support and funded units within Auxiliary Enterprises and serve on the division’s senior leadership team reporting to the Vice President.

Duties include, but are not limited to: direct the budgeting process for Auxiliary Enterprises units; monitor budget versus actual reports for all units; review and approve departmental budgetary adjustments; collaborates closely with the Financial Services staff; provide fiscal analysis for all Auxiliary Enterprises units and projects including construction and

renovation, contracts, expenditure monitoring, collections, vendor payments, pro forma financial statements, internal controls, audit, and risk assessment; ensure all Auxiliary Enterprises staff responsible for purchasing or serving as budget officers are trained in all state, University, and divisional laws, policies, and guidelines; support the efforts of Auxiliary Enterprises staff in administering an equipment and property inventory system; prepare revenue and expense projections for all Auxiliary Enterprises; conduct comprehensive cost-benefit analyses of current and future operations within Auxiliary Enterprises; lead Auxiliary Enterprises Vice President and area Directors in direction and deployment of Lean frameworks in line with best practices; employ Lean methodologies to design strategies for improving operations and processes for the areas of Auxiliary Enterprises; establish and deploy Auxiliary Enterprises Lean Officer Development Program to train and then supervise future lean officers in rotating 3-year cycle; assist in the development of strategic planning and goal setting; establish metrics and milestones on which to base success criteria for each goal; collect data, analyze, and evaluate achievement on an established timeline and report findings to Vice President and area Directors; make recommendations, based on best practices, for continued improvements; direct, manage, and lead the CINO Card Office through the supervision of the CINO Card Manager; and perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Auxiliary Enterprises.

Requirements: A bachelor’s degree with accounting courses and professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, banking or finance are required. A master’s degree in accounting or business administration and finance or accounting experience in a University setting is preferred. A Six Sigma certification and experience with software platforms including but not limited to CS Gold, Datatel by Ellucian, ePro are preferred.

Accounting/Fiscal Manager I (AD28/61121612/FTE-S00582P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 07. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university. Evening and weekend work and travel will be required as necessary.
