The Department of Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Business Economics (STRA/BUSE) in the Cox School of Business at SMU is seeking to hire for a non-tenure track Professor of Practice/Clinical Professor position in the area of complex problem solving and strategy with a Spring 2022 start. Thought leadership, a charismatic persona, an innovative spirit, and a broad-ranging repertoire that provides for high quality teaching is essential. The candidate selected will be strongly involved in providing students stellar preparation and mentorship within and outside the classroom in order for them to perform at a high level in applied experiential projects, workplace leadership, and managing complex problem solving in teams. The teaching load for this full-time position is 24 credit hours, or the equivalent, of classroom instruction per year; similar to other full-time faculty, you may be assigned to teach in any of our on- or off-campus programs—undergraduate or graduate—which may be scheduled in periods throughout the year, including some at night, and on weekends.

Minimum qualifications: Candidates must have a terminal degree and experience in teaching complex problem-solving courses, consulting skills and frameworks courses and substantial experience leading fulltime graduate and working professional MBA students in consulting teams in global and domestic real-life projects. In addition, the candidate will have substantial experience leading other experiential courses that teach frameworks to help students address challenges that take place in a volatile, complex, ambiguous and uncertain environments including global business strategy and the intersection of law and strategy.

Preferred qualifications: Demonstrated potential to teach MBA and undergraduate courses in strategy, complex problem solving, consulting leadership of small student teams in actual engagement as well as any of the following areas: Change management, war gaming, competitive intelligence, scenario planning, crisis management and other similar courses and methodologies which deliver graduates with the ability to thrive in an environment of ambiguity and uncertainty.
