Position Title: Assistant Professor

Full-Time/Part-Time? Full Time

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Teach 3 courses per semester in the undergraduate and graduate social work programs
  • Provide advising and consultation to students
  • Conduct and publish scholarly work
  • Perform relevant departmental, college, university, professional, community outreach and service

Minimum Education:
Ph.D in social work or DSW in social work from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Group for the Advancement of Doctoral Education in Social Work, ABD candidates in social work will be considered but the applicant must provide documentation of degree conferral prior to the start date of employment. 

MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited social work program 

Minimum Experience:
Three years of post-MSW, full-time practice experience required; part-time equivalent of 3 years full-time practice experience will be considered

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Demonstrated successful teaching at graduate and/or undergraduate level. 
  • Demonstrated success in scholarly contributions.  
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to work with culturally diverse and underrepresented populations as well as a commitment to social justice.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to contribute in the areas of outreach and service to the department, college, university, profession, and community.

Demonstrated willingness and ability to teach in core Social Work curricular areas including introduction to social work, field practicum, and generalist practice courses.

Demonstrated willingness and ability to conduct research, and seek and secure grant funding

Demonstrated willingness and ability to use relevant technologies in teaching, research, curriculum development, and instructional design with the willingness to teach across the curriculum

Demonstrated experience with applied education and the integration of community-based teaching

Regular Hours of Work:  8:00-5:00 Monday -Friday, with some evenings and weekends as needed for teaching or other events

Environmental Factors: Typical classroom and office environment. Classroom and office noise, temperature and lighting all fluctuate
