University of South Florida — Research Associate

The University of South Florida is seeking to hire a postdoctoral scholar to work as part of a team in a computational human genomics research program developing deep learning-based methods for analyzing human DNA variants. A high level of competence is needed in computational skills (such as bioinformatics, machine learning and mastering programing languages such as Python or R). A graduate level training in bioinformatics or data science or Python programming experience is preferred. A successful research associate will have considerable latitude to develop and carry forward new, independent projects. The principal duties and obligations of the appointment are to conduct computational human genomics research in accordance with the needs of Dr. Liu’ research program, prepare research results for annual reports to granting agency, and to publish high quality articles in peer-reviewed research journals. The tentative contract will be one year but can be extended depending on the need of the lab.

About you
Essential Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Biomedical Sciences and a strong background in bioinformatics, genomics and machine learning.

Preferred Qualifications:  Preferred candidates will have experience working on applications of deep learning-based methods to genomics, and/or pathogenicity prediction of human DNA variants
