Purchase College, State University of New York — Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Photography

The School of Art+Design at Purchase College, State University of New York, seeks candidates for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Photography beginning in the Fall of 2022. Candidates must display enthusiasm, experience, and commitment to public arts education within a BFA, photography program with opportunities to work with cross-disciplinary BFA, BSVA, and MFA programs. We are seeking artists with an international and national reputation and with a proven record of teaching and curricular development.

Applicants must be able to teach all levels of photography as well as alternating electives determined by practice, experience, scholarship, and need. Responsibilities include teaching 2-3 courses per semester (5 courses/per academic year) plus individual senior projects. Courses taught may include a range from analog and advanced digital to topic-based seminars on historical and contemporary issues related to photography.

Ongoing community service responsibilities include academic advising and mentorship of students and new faculty, regional and national portfolio reviews, faculty searches and reviews, membership on college-wide, school, departmental and departmental committees. Additionally, faculty must show evidence of an ongoing trajectory of professional practice.

Salary: $58,000 + $3,026 location pay
